Martin Turk’s feature film DON’T FORGET TO BREATHE will have its premiere at Rome Film Fest on October 23th, 2019, in a parallel and independent festival section Alice Nella Citta, dedicated to films for young audinace. DON’T FORGET TO BREATHE will be one of 12 films presented in their competition program Young Adults. Director Martin Turka and main actors Matija Valant and Tine Ugirn will attend the Rome premiere of the film.
Section Alice Nella Citta is one of the most prestigious ones in Italy. At this year’s edition, Oscar-winner Casey Affleck will present his directorial debut Light Of My Life, while also leading a workshop for young actors. With their new film Young Ahmed, the Dardenne brothers are returning to the festival. Alice Nella Citta will also mark a European premiere of the film Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, honoured by the presence of Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeiffer.
After the premiere at Rome Film Fest, the film will start its regular distribution in Italian cinemas.
The film focuses on the fifteen-year-old Klemen, who lives with his elder brother Peter and single mother in a small and remote rural town. Klemen’s well-established routine of spending time with his beloved brother on the tennis court and by the nearby river gets interrupted by Peter’s sudden and passionate love affair with his gorgeous peer Sonja, which triggers a torrent of conflicting emotions and reckless actions in Klemen.
Film cast Slovenian rising stars Matija Valant, Tine Ugrin, Klara Kuk and Ronja Matijevec Jerman, along renown Iva Krajnc Bagola, Nikola Đuričko and Miha Rodman.
The film was produced by Bela film and co-produced by Quasar (Italy), Studio Dim (Croatia), RTV Slovenia, and RAI Cinema (Italy). It received financial support from Slovenian Film Centre, FVG Audiovisual Fund, Croatian Audio-Visual Centre, Creative Europe – MEDIA programme, RE-ACT Co-Development Funding Scheme and technical support of FS Viba film.
