The film project Horses, directed by Jernej Kastelec, has received the EKKOMED Award from the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center, worth €2,000, at the Dot.on.the.Map Industry Days co-production forum in Limassol, Cyprus. The project was presented there by Kastelec and producer Ida Weiss.
The jury was impressed by the project’s level of preparation and clear artistic vision. In its statement, the jury noted that, through strong symbolism and a grounded story, the film explores how violence passes from one generation to the next and how that cycle might be broken. It also recognised the film’s artistic ambition and its clear potential to be realised.
The award comes as preparations are underway for Kastelec’s debut feature. The team is currently casting, with filming planned for summer 2026.
