The documentary The Road of Brotherhood and Unity, directed by Maja Weiss, was screened at Berlin’s Doxumentale Festival on 2 June 2026. The screening at Sputnik Kino was followed by a conversation with the director, moderated by Saša Šavel Burkart.
In November 1998, Maja Weiss travelled along the former Road of Brotherhood and Unity. Once a route connecting Yugoslavia, it now runs through several countries. In this personal film diary, she explores landscapes and memories marked by war and asks what remains of a once shared homeland. The film from 1999 was produced by Bela Film, with Ida Weiss as producer.
The festival also included the film in Another Story, a programme highlighting women filmmakers and their place in the history of documentary cinema. Read more about the film and screening on the Doxumentale website.
