A young man works at a champagne-production in the north of Slovenia.
He has to turn thousands of bottles slightly by hand, giving them a twist.
During this hypnotic work his mind starts to wander and images of privacy mix with short stories happening in the factory and around.
A short film about work, suffering, life, success, pain and pleasure – champagne as a metaphor for hard labor and splendor, for tradition and future at the same time.
Champagne was and still is since centuries a synonym for wealth and luxury. Nobody really needs it, but once you taste it, it easily could work as a soft drug.
The extravagant and time-consuming process versus short moments of joy, in a life filled with work, pressure, speed and decisions. Whenever something gets twisted it changes
it´s condition, it´s nature. But „Champagne Twist“ is also a metaphor for basic contraries like fast and slow, rich and poor or warm and cold, which in a simultaneousness world exist along to each other, which depend on each other, which create a permanent but parallel universe, – and therefore another reality, another truth, – a mirror, a twist.
Everything is connected in a rhythmical dream builded on sounds and beats that emerge from the particular events shown. The film dances with images, glimpses of a moment, which are part of history and future, projection and reflection in the same time. And so the film is also about time itself, time that moves, time that we move, time that passes and the time that we own to dream.
Let´s twist.
