Following successful screenings all over the globe, the short film A Well Spent Afternoon showcased at one of Europe’s most cherished and longest-running short film festivals, the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen.
At the festival, 48 entries were shown in the competition selection of children’s and youth short film, competing for a total of 6 young jury awards. Money prizes were awarded to 3 films, among which Martin Turk’s A Well Spent Afternoon was the winner of the “EVO Promotional Award”.
Starting out as the Festival of West German Educational Film, the Oberhausen festival has been running ever since 1954, welcoming a number of renowned filmmakers such as Andrea Arnold, Vera Chytilová, Miloš Forman, Werner Herzog, Roman Polanski, Martin Scorsese, István Szabó, Agnès Varda and many others. It now enjoys the reputation of one of the world’s foremost short film festivals, annually receiving over 7000 entries. This year was its 63rd edition.
The film A Well Spent Afternoon, featuring Primož Pirnat and Julijan Weiss Turk as a father and son who discover a wallet full of cash while strolling around the block, is traveling now to the Cinema in Sneakers Film Festival for Children and Youth in Warsaw, continuing its festival circuit run at the 30. International Festival of Films for Children and Young Adults v in the Iranian Isfahan, and then heading over to Korea for the twelfth Busan International Kids and Youth Film Festival.
