On 17 February 2026, Peter Braatz’s documentary Blue Velvet Revisited filled the auditorium at New York’s IFC Center. Filmmaker Ethan Coen was among the audience. A conversation with Braatz followed the screening.
The screening was part of DOC NYC Selects, which brought the film back to the screen for the 40th anniversary of David Lynch’s Blue Velvet. In 1985, Braatz documented the making of the cult film, collecting Super 8 footage, photographs and audio recordings. From this material, he created a poetic documentary about its production. The documentary was produced by Peter Braatz and Ida Weiss.
Before the screening, the festival’s artistic director, Jaie Laplante, thanked the Slovenian representatives for supporting Braatz’s trip to New York. Afterwards, he spoke with Braatz about the making of the documentary.
