19 Oct HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE FRANKFURT PREMIERE OF THE FILM “SNATCHED FROM THE SOURCE”
The premiere took place on October 18, 2023, at the DFF Hall – German Film Museum and Institute on the banks of the Main River in Frankfurt.
A tender discussion after the screening was moderated by the writer Nataša Kramberger. First, the director Maja Weiss and the screenwriter Nataša Konc Lorenzutti were invited in front of the screen, and then two of the four main protagonists of the Slovenian Lebensborn children, Ingrid von Oelhafen and Ivan Acman, joined them. Dr. Georg Lilienthal, a historian who has been studying Lebensborn since his studies and is actually a pioneer in the research of this part of the Nazi machinery in Germany, was also invited to speak.
Dr. Lilienthal described the film with the words, “This is the best documentary I have ever seen about Lebensborn. It made a profound impression on me because it uniquely portrays what was done to the stolen children and their families, how much they had to suffer, and yet, how strong and brave they were. The film is an accusation, enlightenment, and a call for humanity to finally stop such crimes against children.”
The Slovenian premiere of the documentary will be in early March 2024 at the Documentary Film Festival in Cankarjev dom, followed by distribution in cinemas.
